Both these two went to same HS, and grew up in same relative area

They sound different to me the second dude annunciated his words much more the first dude sounded like he barley opened his mouth.

Yeah that's part of that, but I feel like the first guys has picked up a slight Canadian accent. Probably comes from living in Toronto and working with a bunch of Canadians. I think a lot of people do this. Remember that NYT American accent test from about 5 years ago?

Even though I think of the way I talk as not really changing over time, depending on what questions I get, it localizes my accent to all the states in my user name, except Minnesota, :-) It even relatively accurately locates my accent within those states to the parts I lived in. It's almost kind of eerie.

Can you explain to me what a couple of guys from NJ have to do with Los Angeles?

My initial thought was slightly Canadian as well the broadcasters were extra Canadian.

It's much easier for me living in LA to pick up on east coast accents. I never heard them when I was over there just because I was used to it, but now I can hear a slight one from a mile away.

But where did they learn to speak? (i.e. where did they live under the age of around 3-4 years.) To me, the second guy appears to have a much more "Joy-Z" accent.

I only listened to the first video. The young guy has a hint of Canadian accent, yes. You can hear it especially in the way he pronounces "Toronto," the vowel of "boat," and in the intonation which has a rising pitch in odd places.

I actually don't hear much it in the female newscaster but the male newscaster is very Canadian; it's the way he pronounces "process" as well as the words "knight, about, south, time" which all have distinct Canadian raising.

I just want to know if Los Angeles people hear an accent. If two guys from NJ sound different from Los Angeles people.

I have been to Los Angeles, and I never thought I sounded different from people. But people tell me I have thick accent.
