It can be a thing if they want it to be, but I'm not interesting in watching men dance around so I'm not the target audience.

While they both had the same name most big name colleges had cheerleaders, often with a megaphone and song girls. Taken to the professional ranks President Eishenhower was a "cheerleader" at West Point urging the fellow cadets to cheer. While the Dallas Cowboy and then other professional teams song girls wore titillating costumes and did a dance choreographed by Paula Abdul but kept the super set "cheerleader" name. Although some dance troupes like The Laker Girls got closer to the song girl name that their role on the field more closely matched. meanwhile cheerleaders have evolved into team gymnastic floor exercises for those to large to compete at the higher level gymnastics.

So the news would be that a male has joined the ranks the relatively sexual titillating dance troupe that calls itself a cheerleader squad as opposed to the relatively modest cheerleaders, or a gymnastic tumbler/modern hip hop dancer cheerleader squads.

Absolutely.

Let's be cereal he folks. It's LA and football is mostly a TV program that entertains with live physical drama. Anything they can do to attract attention, ratings and *ahem* largely untapped demographics is of course a marketing win for them.

Nothing against guys who want to do this sort of thing, but personally, I want to see attractive women in skimpy clothes out there. I imagine the players do too.

Out of curiosity, how many women find male cheerleaders fun to watch?

I randomly just met one of the male cheerleaders this past week, Quentin (I think that's his name), really nice guy. It was at a café, he was eating, working on his laptop, etc. So I didn't want to bother him much, but we talked a little about the Super Bowl week experience and how the game was a bummer (from a Rams fan perspective).

Could a former male NFL cheerleader use his experience to apply for and get a job at Hooters? Discuss.

Does ANYONE care about cheer leaders? Has anyone ever cared? Have they ever had an effect? Personally, I'd rather the stadium show great plays or historical plays on the scoreboard. (Three of my four daughters have competed in cheer and HS varsity cheer. When I go to those cheer events, I ask "Where are the 'I Hate Cheer' or 'Dads Against Cheer' shirts?")
