Wow, that's scary. I hope there's things he did foolishly to be in this situation Otherwise I won't make it.

Don't you feel a little guilty that you're not paying Mello Roos levies like a lot of people are? Fair? No.

Part was panic when the market drop... you could say he locked in substantial losses...

Plus many things simply cost more now.

He was commenting that he paid 24k for his home many years ago and not too long ago had a new roof put on with permits... the cost of the roof was 24k!!!

He does still own his home so he is not broke but the next egg he had counted on petered out and then interest rates were next to nothing too.

No I don’t. I was smart enough to buy when many of my friends were too busy partying and chose to rent. I pay way more than enough income taxes to CA so am glad I can save on property taxes.

Yes. Las Vegas is getting the ghetto hood rats, Phoenix is getting the right-wing hicks and Denver is getting the Yuppy wannabes who can't afford the California Coast.

Neither Washington nor Oregon are high-tax states. Washington has no income tax, and Oregon has no state sales tax.

Wait until the Democrats reverse the tax reform so that Red states get punished and people are leaving Phoenix and Vegas because they are too expensive!

lol and what does your friend think they will find in Nevada? It's now a solidly blue state and the median home price in Incline Village is 1.269 million. Sales tax is no cheaper, property tax is close to the same as California, maybe a bit higher, and gas (according to gas buddy) in Incline is $3.89. Oh wait, I get it they don't have to pay California income tax, silly me
