As far as downtown it’s hit or miss depending on what block you’re on. Little Tokyo is nice but other areas are kind of run down.
I have a few Acquaintance, both white guys, who lived in the MacArthur Park area. They moved there because the rents where low. They got better paying jobs and eventually moved out but never had any complaints about the area. At one time the city entertained the idea of renaming the area Little Central America.

$50K is not enough, especially since you insist on living downtown. I don't understand why people leave much cheaper places just to come here and barely scrape by.

How long did they live there and why didn’t they stay and continue to enjoy their cheap rent? I was there for several years. They may not have complained as if it were a life or death situation but I doubt they’d say there’s nothing they’d change. The OP is moving from Vegas with a new job and asked for advice—I don’t know why people would tell him to move to an area they themselves wouldn’t move into (or advise family or friend to) if they had other choices. It’s not like he’s unskilled or uneducated.

I wonder why MacArthur park is seldom mentioned. Nice access to K-Town and Downtown.

My question is, is 50k enough for a single person with no kids to live in downtown LA? I'm talking about a small 1bed Apt or studio?
50k is high for entry level. I've seen jobs for $17 an hour for entry level call center. Can you live on 50k in DTLA,yes

You can't also live in a two bedroom with a roommate in Highland Park for $2250 split a month and take the gold line into DTLA, depending on where you work.

Pool and washing and dryer in unit might cost an extra $100 a month.

Call center does not require much skills and it for sure does not require any degree. it's all relative and one entry level can't be compared to another.

He's not talking about general 'entry level' though, he means 'entry level' in his field which requires a degree, likely several certs and some experience.
