The filmmaker was determined that the environments featured in his ninth film "Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood" as tactile and immersive as humanly possible without turning to the now-ubiquitous digital effects houses, says Ling, who lavishly and convincingly resurrects a period some 50 years gone: the then-vibrant storefronts of Hollywood Boulevard, the classic movie theaters of Westwood Village, enduring eateries like Musso & Frank Grill and El Coyote, the Playboy Mansion, and the Charles Manson family inhabited ranch where Westerns were shot.

The New Beverly is playing this movie throughout the month of August if you want to really step back in time

I'm thinking this one will beat LaLaLand hands down in the "homage to Hollywood" category. That one was a massive dud.

Default The First Movie ...

... I could not sit through but actually walked out on. LALA LAND.

It's why I don't watch or believe the Emmies anymore. Another Emmy nominated movie no one saw.

Can't wait for Tarantino to do a 1950s homage movie to Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania, or Midway, Georgia.

If you are not from Hollywood, California, what memories will "Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood"' evoke?

Great storytelling, acting and it was 1969 all over again! I would see it again just to watch Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate.

Love the Mercedes R107 at the beginning -- looks identical to my 560SL, minus the U.S. spec railroad tie bumpers.

I had a 380sl. Friends kept trying to get me to ad the 3rd light and replace 380 emblem with 560. It was a super fun car to drive
