I live in the Torrance area (South Bay), and I will be moving this spring. I wanted to find out where are some of the best budget friendly places to buy moving boxes at a good price?

I looked at Home Depot, Lowe’s, and U-Haul. The prices overall seem pretty competitive . . . i.e. an extra large box (22" x 22" x 21 1/2" ) is about $2.48. Also U-Haul offers slightly cheaper prices if boxes are purchased in a bundle.

I know that I can get free boxes at the trash areas of most big business, however I want uniform boxes (i.e. only want to deal with 3 to 4 different size boxes), as they will work more neatly and better once they are put on the moving van . . . yet having a variety of free boxes of many different sizes and strengths is more messier than I wish to deal with.

Yet before I buy any boxes, I just wanted to check with the Citi-Data forum to see what might be the best places to buy moving boxes at a good price in the South Bay area.

Now with that being said, I am not looking to drive to the Westside or downtown Los Angeles or San Fernando Valley or Long Beach or Orange County to save a few cents on moving boxes unless I can get an extra large box for less than $1 a piece, otherwise I’m just looking for budget friendly places in the South Bay area.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I would check Craigs list first. When I posted some stuff to give away for free I saw listings of people giving boxes away fro free that had just moved in.

Look under "For Sale". then click "Free" which is listed under "For Sale". then search for boxes

Depending upon how many boxes you need and your timeline, you can buy boxes online from Uline...
