Not a bad idea. I had an old assistant who was renting a room in a malibu home and she loooooved it. You're income would go a long way that way.

Where was her commute to? Are the streets crowded going into Woodland hills?

Is Malibu insanely expensive? If one wanted a studio or 1-bedroom apartment, what would he/she be looking to pay per month at a minimum for a decent place?

Her commute was from Malibu to Calabasas and it wasnt bad at all. Took the canyons home

If you're coming from the beach cities you would want to take Topanga Canyon. Honestly I've never seen it during commuting hours, but I would expect the worst traffic would be headed the opposite direction from you. That would be very nice living at the beach and commuting to the Valley, if you can afford it. I couldn't...
