You watch. For 2020, the deaths from Cancer, heart disease, influenza, pneumonia, will drastically decrease. JMHO. The numbers will shift from one column to another. The CDC will no longer recommend that deaths due to other conditions that happen to include COVID be counted as a COVID. There is a difference between dying WITH COVID vs. dying OF COVID as the primary cause of death. Moreover, the numbers should also decrease because the vaccines are helping. This "miracle" was due to the fast approval of the litany of vaccines brought to us in record time. Who facilitated all of that? I can take a guess. It was no wonder that the inauguration was on January 20, and it was announced that the schools would open soon. Such a different tune from the previous months, LOL. Like my husband said: "January 20 brought miracles!" Does Biden think that we don't have a memory? Millions loose their jobs, businesses, and livelihoods and as soon as they declare their President all is well? Ha!

Barbara Ferrer is just a "pawn" in the chess game of California Politics. "Ho hum" to whatever she says. I love her statement "We're all in this together." No we're not. She gets $500K a year and we don't, and she is not even a physician. She didn't lose her business, job, home, apartment, car or even a paycheck. Yet she and Governor Newsom chose to shut down California because of a presidential election year. I will never forget what these two did to honest and hardworking Californians, whatever political party they were registered as. It was OK to protest during the summer of 2020 but not OK to gather in church. It was OK to go to a strip club, but not O.K. to see your struggling hair stylist. Public schools were closed, but private ones were open. Governor Newsom's kids attended a private school during this time. Restaurants were closed but Newsom attended a party for a friend. We were asked not to travel, but the California legislature attended a meeting in Hawaii. Does Newsom, Pelosi, and Ferrer think that we are "blind" or stupid? So sad for millions of Californians/Americans who lost it all. I will be in favor of the recall of Newsom.

She actually appears to be the opposite.

“You are a traitor to all the people of Los Angeles!” one man shouted from Ferrer’s driveway.

It was the kind of high pressure churn of threats and challenges that claimed the jobs of at least 190 public health leaders across the country who have either been fired, retired or resigned during the COVID-19 pandemic...

It’s still too early to write the definitive history of how L.A. County fought the coronavirus and fully assess L.A. County Director of Public Health Barbara Ferrer’s performance. She has been among the most aggressive of California public officials in pushing for lockdowns and business shutdowns that were praised by public health experts, and many residents who sent her letters of support.

Even her toughest critics, among them county supervisors, credit her for her stable leadership amid constantly shifting factors, many of which were beyond her control, such as vaccine supply levels and people’s personal behaviors that defied mask and other mandates. Her allies praise her for standing up to business pressures to keep the economy open, something they believe saved lives.

But in a county that at times became the epicenter of the pandemic — with some of the highest death and vaccine disparity rates anywhere in the country — Ferrer’s legacy will long be scrutinized with a critical eye.

"We're especially concerned about this variant (Delta) because it appears to be highly transmissible, and by that we mean it's more contagious, even than other highly contagious COVID variants,” L.A. Department of Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said.

Saw this one coming -- I wonder if it's still considered "xenophobic" to want all travel to the U.S. halted.

We don't need to halt all travel to the U.S., just for people from, or have been to Alpha, Beta, Delta and the Place That Has No Name, where it started.

Of the 123 people confirmed to have been infected with the Delta variant in L.A. County, 110 were unvaccinated and three were partially vaccinated. There were two hospitalizations among people in this group.

The Delta variant was found in 10 fully vaccinated individuals, none of whom ended up needing hospital care.

The latest number of cases is up markedly from the 64 the county disclosed last weekend.

Of Los Angeles County’s Delta variant cases, 49 were found among residents of the Antelope Valley cities of Palmdale and Lancaster. Fourteen of them came from one household.
