JUNE 28, 2021 UPDATED 8:23 PM PT
With the highly contagious Delta variant of the coronavirus continuing to spread statewide, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health is recommending that all residents wear masks in public indoor spaces — regardless of whether they’ve been vaccinated for COVID-19.

That is extremely predictable news. Where is the mayor? Where are the public-service notices on TV channels? LA County really thought businesses would keep requiring masks when money is at stake? Sometimes I wonder why I still want to live here.

The last time LA County had this many daily coronavirus cases was mid-April.

506 new COVID-19 cases were reported on Friday, more than double the average daily number the county was reporting in mid-June, when the state and county virus restrictions were lifted.

I'm not disputing any scientific data regarding this new Delta variant. But what really infuriates me is that I followed the CDC recommendations to reduce the spread of Covid-19, yet the federal government didn't do nearly enough to restrict travel into the U.S., because if they had, this Delta variant would not have arrived here so soon. So, I'm done with lockdowns, etc. I don't care if Darth Vader himself aims a Coronavirus ray from the Death Star directly at us -- I'm not following the CDC guidelines anymore if people are still free to travel into this nation as they please from all over this planet.

Since covid-19 predominantly affects the lungs & breathing, I think air pollution would only make that even worse.
I agree that there is a correlation between air pollution and the rate of death from Covid-19, not only in Los Angeles, but also around the world.

Los Angeles County has recorded more than 3,000 new coronavirus cases in three days, part of a troubling rise in cases as viral transmission increases among unvaccinated people.

It was the first time since early March that the county reported three consecutive days with more than 1,000 new coronavirus cases.

The numbers underscore growing concerns about how the highly contagious Delta variant is spreading among unvaccinated people.

According to Fauci, it’s extraordinarily unusual for any kind of vaccine to be so thoroughly protective that it render a virus completely benign in all cases. (Part of the reason vaccines do such a good job of preventing diseases like polio and smallpox is that they’re taken by enough people to achieve herd immunity.)

"A tenth employee of the Los Angeles Police Department has died from complications of COVID-19 amid rising coronavirus cases across the region and internally within the department.

The death of Officer Becky Strong and the increasing number of infections among the LAPD’s ranks come as the department struggles to convince more officers to get vaccinated"

10th LAPD employee dies from COVID-19 amid low vaccination rates, uneven mask use:

Default Rally in SM this Sat at noon

Attorney Dundas and Doctor Gold will be speaking Saturday about this in Santa Monica; would be a good question to ask them in person.
