"In the early weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic, Los Angeles County Chief Medical Examiner-Coroner Dr. Jonathan Lucas — charged with reviewing the causes of nearly 10,000 deaths a year — saw a disturbing trend: the number of people dying at home had jumped drastically.

Though he did not know the cause at the time, and some mystery still remains, Lucas now believes he was seeing firsthand the ramifications of the COVID-19 pandemic which would soon sweep the country — killing more than 180,000 Americans by the end of August."

Hundreds more have died at home in L.A. Experts say COVID-19 is the culprit:

Los Angeles County reported another 1,343 cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, along with 13 additional deaths, according to figures released Saturday.

The coronavirus numbers, prepared by the Department of Public Health, bring the total number of positive COVID-19 cases to 259,817 countywide. So far, 6,330 people have died in the county due to complications from the disease.

Health officials said the number of new daily cases has climbed over the past four days. Although that could be the result of the reopening of testing centers and an increase in testing, it also may be linked to socializing during the recent holiday weekend, they said.

The recent increases in the number of new cases is of concern because it may reflect increased exposures associated with Labor Day activities,” said public health director Barbara Ferrer.

"Los Angeles County on Wednesday reported its highest count of daily COVID-19 infections since Aug. 22.

Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer announced 1,645 new cases and 30 additional deaths. It’s unclear whether Wednesday’s number signifies a trend or is a one-off linked to a backlog of cases.

“While one day of a high number of cases does not indicate a trend, this is something we need to watch closely,” Ferrer said."

Twenty-eight more people have died of COVID-19 across Los Angeles County and 1,285 new coronavirus infections have been confirmed, officials said Saturday (10/10).

The numbers, reported by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, bring the countywide pandemic death toll to 6,768 people, with 281,165 confirmed cases.

In 72% of the new cases, those who tested positive were under 50 years old, the department said.

Of the 28 deaths, the department said, 22 people had underlying health conditions. One of the fatalities involved a person between 18 and 29 years old, while two people were between 30 and 49, seven were between 50 and 64, nine were between 65 and 79, and nine were over 80, the department said.

Not true.

Experimental COVID drug hailed by Trump is still undergoing trials, unavailable to most Americans:

Los Angeles County has a death rate from COVID-19 of 67 per 100,000 people. No other county in California--except Imperial County, which has the highest in the state--has this high a rate. (For example, Santa Barbara has 26.1)

Why couldn't people just do what they were supposed to do to thwart this, according to the CDC, back in March? If everybody had done so, we wouldn't still be talking about this. I now hate some people, beyond words, for getting us deeper into this time-wise. And as the days go by, I feel myself becoming more and more like Bill Foster from the film Falling Down. Hollywood needs to reboot that movie and bring a few new potential scenarios into it.
