Santa Monica descends into lawlessness as looters ransack Santa Monica Place, stores like Vans on 4th...

Tell me how this gets justice?

Tim: As of 2:30pm, the vast majority of the people in Santa Monica are protesting peacefully.

The criminals, looters, etc. appear to be a small minority.

I watched live on Fox 11 several protesters with signs saying "We Protest. We Don't Loot." These same protesters tried to block the looters from entering in the Vans's store and the REI store.

They weren't successful in blocking entry into the Van's store but they did prevent them from getting into the REI store.

The City of Santa Monica did just move their curfew up to 4pm today (not 8pm).

I saw that, God bless that itty bitty gal standing up for right and kudos for the guy who joined her.

Unfortunately on one stood up to say "no" at Santa Monica Place.

Agreed but the main protest was a block or two away. Those protesters clearly appear to be doing so peacefully. The thugs stealing were doing so out of sight of the main protest.

Man, what a crazy scene at the Vans store. Young men in hoodies, with bags ready, storming in and storming out. The two or three motorcycle cops showed up just a few seconds too late.

While the media isn't helping the situation, the supposed President of the U.S. should either try to calm people down or he should simply sit down and shut up. I swear this man would politicize a speck of dust if he thought it would help him get reelected. His racism has been so obvious and even proudly displayed that even if he did try to say something good, I doubt anyone with half a brain would believe him, but at least he could try.

I hope the National Guard presence can help calm things down. So far this hasn't been as bad as 1992; maybe the situation will soon be brought under control.

The vandals and looters should all be arrested - and not for only twenty-four hours. I would love to show my support with the legitimate demonstrators, the ones who are actually marching peacefully, but I won't march with them when I'd fear for my safety (both from the opportunists and from COVID-19).

Phil Schuman's coverage (on Fox 11) at the street level next to the Vans store was intense. The scenes of the kids looting, not [mod cut] that they're being filmed on the news, wild. Now his camera has been spray painted so no more coverage down there.

Anyone going out to protest has just has to admit to themselves that the reason their message is getting the press is because they serve as human shields as the police has to watch and safeguard them while the looters and arsonist move behind them and insure the cameras keep rolling and the network doesn't switch back to a replay of a 20 year old basketball game.

Agreed. Nobody should be out there if there's looting going on. It's the equivalent of sitting in the getaway car as the bank is being robbed -- just because you're not a trigger-man doesn't mean you're not in on it.
