Make Sure You Have A Short Commute!
I'm looking into Burbank, where I might be able to bike to work. I mean I have a car that I would drive over, but with the gas prices....I dont know the LA area that well. I visited my aunt when she lived in Santa Clarita/Canyon Country and we passed thru LA and saw the Hollywood sign. That was about it.

so the more experience you have before you get here, the better
Admin experience or Film Admin experience? Because while I've been an Admin for about 6 years now(for a medical and hvac company), and been able to "help" out on student films here and there, Boston isnt the greatest (until recently) for hands on experience. And it's not like theres a studio here that I could have interned at. I graduated with an AA in Film Production but they taught mostly the books not the equipment. I did some intern work back in Orlando but that was 00-01 in college. Dont know if I should put that on my resume?
And I'm not looking in the end to get hands on camera work, I really want to be involved with the development/preproduction side of things.

So if most of the studios go thru staffing agencies, whats that point of posting jobs on their website?

General admin exp should help a lot. I had worked in film publicity (at a field agency) in FL before moving here, and had experience working with several of the studios. You can get a job by applying on the websites, too. That is how I got the WB job.
