What is the purpose of a gang in 2007?
To beat the government? Not happening, they have bigger guns and more members.
To watch out for each other? Yeah, ok, as the bullets fly and your homiez run.
To protect your "turf"? Once again, Uncle Sam owns your turf, not you.
To show off? Really worth dying over?
I understand the Mafia back in the 1920's, 30's, and 40's, they had prohibition to make $ from and many other reasons. And they knew how to dress.
Seems today the gangsters are just cheap and expendable. They cant dress well either.
Just seems pretty pimitive to me in this day and age.

I think the gangs nowadays control the drug trade. Cocaine, crack, speed, heroin, etc.

Drugs, small arms (hell, large arms), paperwork, and other illegal activities.

Jakehorror, you'd best get used to the real thing when you move here. Avoid eye contact, do nothing to "engage" them. They live to make trouble. There's no such thing as a decent example: remember, they beat up their friends as initiation.

Default What??

Is this the stupidist thread ever??? "L.A. Gangs 4real", how stupid, i can honestly say that i am embarresed by some of your replys, like you are actuall gang members, you remind me of the Bikers of the 2000's that are actually Doctors and Lawyers, put put on a leather jacket and a pissed off look and WOW, instant outlaw biker. Get a life and grow up, what they should do with these lost souls that call them selfs "gang members" is put their ass in Iraq, and instead of defending a piece of turf why not defend the country that they live in, the U.S.A.
