In L.A., do we pronounce 'roof' as it's spelled, or do we pronounce it "ruff"?

My Ma, who’s from Austria, is the only person I’ve known who pronounced it anything close to ruff, and it isn’t even quite like that.

The alternative pronunciation isn't "ruff" like a ruffle, it has the same vowel as book or put.

I tend to say "rooof" with a long OO, but I wouldn't even notice if someone used the other pronunciation. They're both completely acceptable to me.

I've always thought of ruff for roof and rutt for root as Midwestern pronunciations. At least, that is the only place I've regularly heard people pronouncing those words that way.
