Hello! I am moving from MI to Seal Beach and I have a few friends up in the city that I would like to visit sometimes on the weekends.

I'm wondering, what is the best route to get up there, and although I am expecting heavy traffic, what time or day is the least crowded?

Thanks!!

Methinks the 605 north to the 5 north should do it. Don't live in that area or use those routes regularly so I don't know when would be best for you.

You might want to take data by checking out Sigalert.com - Personalized Traffic Reports during the times you expect to commute. You can get a graphical feel for what freeways are moving.

405 to the 110 to the 5 or 101 is another option. If I were you, I would avoid the 5 freeway south of downtown like the plague, its almost always jammed.

on the weekend i would take the 605N to the 5N. simplest route. just be careful in the east LA interchange(5/10/60) as it can be confusing and you could end up on the wrong freeway
