Anyone know of any apartments north of the 210 in Pasadena? Between N lake and Washington? Is it safe? Max rent $2,000. Thanks.

Yes, it's safe. But your options would be better if you look a bit further west, say along the Lincoln Blvd. (towards Altadena) corridor.

Its not "unsafe" but its a lot more dense than other parts of Pasadena. I can't think of where apartments are in that area, is it a smaller unit?

Ehhh, really depends on where in that area and what you mean by safe. I used to live between Hill and Allen on Washington Blvd and I also use to live on Lake/Orange Grove. If you want safe, don't live directly on Lake or Washington, there are a lot of homeless and gangs do tend to congregate on Washington. Also, ambulances and law enforcement use those major streets and you will literally hear sirens all night long. If possible, look for an apartment on a side street, like Mountain or Casa Grande, also anything on or north of Allen will be safer and quieter.

FYI, that area has a heavy armenian presence, which may be a pro or con to some.

No, no, no, avoid Lincoln unless you take it all the way up to the altadena hills. Lots of crime and riff raff on Lincoln. I worked on this street for 5 years.

Isnt that considered "north pasadena"? If so, isnt it like Inglewood? I dont think its be best place to be. Its not dangerous, but its not really the most desirable.

Some of these comments remind me of 1995. Time has passed. The nefarious and disgusting behavior imputed to the area, is now much less. In 1995, I was warned to avoid renting anything in Pasadena north of the 210. It's hard to fathom how such advice, even as hysterical exaggeration, would remain operative today.

More to the point, there are some apartment complexes near Super King on Lincoln. I'd give those consideration.

I lived in Pasadena and Altadena for 10 years, last year being 2012. I actually worked across the street from Super King. Lincoln is terrible, half the stores on the street are fronts for drug runners. Yes, the area is getting gentrified, but it's taking some time. Don't sugarcoat the reality.
