Wanting to move to Manhattan Place in Koreatown between 3rd and 4th street. Is this a safe area? I would appreciate any advice. Need to make decision today. Not accepting if not safe even if afforable.

I wouldn't say that the area you mentioned is unsafe, however, it is right on the fringe of some lower income neighborhoods as well as the ultra affluent hancock park neighborhood. i wouldn't be afraid of getting shot there, but I would certainly make sure you keep everything locked.

Thanks for your reply, my daughter is in La. and found this in her budget. My focus and her focus is not the same. She is concerned for rent and I am concerned about her safety. She is only been in La. two weeks in a hotel and looking for apt. I am trying to do the safety homework. Thanks for your help.

Default Manhattan, Koreatown Safe?

$800.00 I even join apartment hunters and sent her to their office yesterday. Not any sucess. She found this area looking around by herself, and says its in her budget.I say it is not safe enough. It is on Manhattan Place near 3rd Street. Mom's like safe places for their daughters. But I guess cheap and safe don't go together.

unfortunately not.

is $800 an absolute maximum she can afford, or just what she prefers to pay? a safe place of one's own is very hard to find for less than $1000/mo., and you really need a minimum of $1200 for options in neighborhoods that aren't on the margins. was she unaware of housing costs before she moved here?

if she isn't likely to cook her own meals, tell her to look for a studio without a kitchen in miracle mile. that is the cheapest accomodation one is likely to find in an area that will allow mom to sleep easily at night.

Thanks for that reply, you guys are a blessing to people who live in other states. No, she was not aware of the cost. She learning that now. Where is Miracle Mile? Is Manhattan Place and 3rd street near that? Is Manhattan and 3rd Street Koreatown or Mid-Wilshire? Manhattan Place and 3rd Street is about 4 blocks off Wilshire. I hear the farther you go from Wilshire the worst it gets.

koreatown is a neighborhood in the mid-wilshire section of the city. although i'm not a fan of the area, she could do worse. it's east of my comfort zone, but not by much.

why is she looking in this part of LA? is she a student somewhere?

Nope, acting. Has done a little acting in low budget movies, wanted to be close to Los Angeles. Someone showed her this area and this is in her budget. Are you familar with Manhattan Place and 3rd Street?
