if you live near a station and work near a station then you're golden. this isn't the case for a huge majority of the population so the lines are mostly underutilized.

A friend of mine that I work with takes the Metro frequently and enjoys it. He started taking it when he lived in Irvine, working in Downtown LA. Now he takes it from Valley Village to Downtown.
