If lockdowns work, then why didn’t they work good? Not saying she is lying, but states with the most restrictive covid mandates didn’t do any better than states with loose to no covid restrictions.

I dislike LAPD maybe more than most non-criminals, but I don't despise it. An LA police force is a necessity. This one is just not good and I've never heard anyone from the general public say otherwise.

If LAPD can get its vaccination rate up significantly this month, I'll think better of it. If not, loudly throw some bad apples out.

I wish it were that simple here. People with various toxic agendas, some with deliberate misinformation or willful ignorance of for example the danger of post-viral illness. This is why the pandemic persists.

Lockdown alone is not a single factor contributing to increase or decrease in covid cases, but it's one of the component. It's a simple common sense that the probability of meeting people with covid is higher outside home (assuming you don't have relatives/ friends with covid meeting at home). Except for Florida other states with loose restrictions fared extremely bad. Florida is a curious case and no one knows the exact reason why cases are low or high since several factors are involved. Remember CA, NY are more vulnerable to covid since they have more dense populated areas than Fl and Fl has higher vaccination rate among older ppl. Below article is from Dec 2020 since you don't like the recent data.

According to UCSF Infectious Disease expert Dr Monica Ghandi they may have actually made things worse.

As COVID-19 explodes, was California too strict for its own good?

But this all goes back to everything Ive said on this thread: the greatest mistake our health experts made was treating us like robots/that human contact was option.

People simply arent going to distance indefinitely. There is going to be no long term change in this regard. Thats just not who we are as a species. Most of us love doing things that involve other people and a lot of them (concerts, bars, sporting events, etc.) and that isnt going to change because of this virus. So when a bunch of people hop on TV, jump up and down, and tell us to lockdown the reactions should have been predictable. At first, there was a lot of compliance because there was a lot of fear but that faded over time. Now, very few would pay any attention if those instructions were given.

That's why lockdowns were/are doomed. Not because isolating yourself doesnt keep you from getting germs, because its not remotely realistic for almost all people. Something like that would only work for robots.

How long can people possibly lockdown for? A lockdown is temporary and cannot last for perpetuity. That is why they do not work. In regards to this virus, the best we can hope for is that the vaccines and natural immunity will remain durable and any new variant begins to weaken. Outside of that, not much else can be done. There comes a point we have to live our lives. There is only so long those who want to impose mandates can hold that beach ball under water.

I don't expect the virus to weaken. The Delta variant is extremely successful at what it does. People should just accept vaccination as the best prevention for now and hope future versions are better. Treatment medication is coming, and maybe it will also work to stop infection after suspected exposure. People also should start accepting that large, lengthy indoor gatherings are unsafe in the sense of furthering virus spread. Humankind wasn't made for those; once out of the habit, people will hardly miss them.

You can’t even keep up with what’s going on. The delta has already reached its peak and is on the downhill slide. Good grief. In the south where it hit hard their numbers are declining everyday. Pay attention and quit spreading this politically motivated misinformation.

It is hard to debate science with people who believe there are 32 genders and any person can be a birthing person. Strange times we live in.

It will go back up in colder months as people mass indoors and vaccines wear off. It's fantasy to think the virus soon is going to drop to a level that makes for truly safe living for most people. The government knows that, hence vaccine mandates.
