Anyone in L.A. try out Miami or from Miami or considered Miami? What were your impressions of Miami compared with Los Angeles?

I'm from Florida, been to Miami several times and have lived in L.A. for the past 5 years.

It's really hard to compare the two places because they are so different. If you want a place where you can go to the beach all year round, Miami is the place for you! L.A. beaches are nowhere near as nice as the ones in Miami or in Florida in general. I like to swim in the ocean but the water is just too cold here in California. Both Miami and L.A. have great food and entertainment. SoBe is a great area, all kinds of places to walk to and a lot of establishments that are open all night. Like the L.A. area there's alot to do in the Miami area. I would say the job market is a lot better in L.A. but you can buy a bomb condo on the beach for 350k in Miami. Hard to compare the two...one is flat, the other has mountains, they both have beaches and hot ladies.

LA has hills and mountains. Miami doesn't. I like hills and mountains. Got any more questions?

I just got back from 4 days in Miami. I didn't think it was much different than LA. Just smaller.

The locals kept telling me people are rude in Miami. I have no idea. They seemed fine to me.

Lots of empty condos and such, and they are still putting up more. Might be able to get a good deal on one at some point.

The bars stay open later and you can drink later and you can drink on the beaches. The water is amazing.

Other than that it's just another city.

Miami has humidity, insects, and high rises everywhere. LA doesn't.

However Miami's access to Latin America is a definite plus.

"Miami is a cheap imitation of LA" okay, a friend of mine said that, but I steal it from her.

Their is a Greater Variety of things to See and Do in L.A than in Miami...L.A also has Better Weather and Microclimates.

Miami has warmer water to swim in though and more rainfall.

Miami is greener, flatter, wetter and more humid. In its way, it is very pretty, and there is water everywhere if you like that. Did I mention it is flat? As others have said, very, very flat. No hills. Some people don't mind that I suppose, but it is a big change from LA topographically, to be sure. As previously mentioned, the beaches are beautiful, the water is a lovely color and as pretty as any island, in my opinion, I was just amazed at that after the dingy dark cold water here.

I thought the people were nice enough, although generally the service seemed to be slow-ish there compared to here. Definitely smaller than LA, but then, what place has quite the sprawl and reach of Los Angeles?

Personally I wouldn't move to Miami, although I might to Florida. I guess I figure why move to Miami if I want to get away from Southern California? So I guess in my mind, they are very similar.

From most, I hear nothing but bad things about Miami. Reading the forums on here, most are quick to correct someone on that topic. Most people consider Miami beach and Miami the same. Whereas those from the area say the opposite. The city of Miami has a terrible crime rate.
