Probably the same chance of getting jobs. Live in Santa Monica if you want security, safety and quietness. Live in Venice if you crave the rough edge of life, street scene and all that. I'm assuming you won't be living in one of those houses on the canals because too expensive.

So, I'm gonna live in SM
I'm gonna rent an appartment or house with friends,
around 3000$-3500$ per month,
I hope we will find something for this price

Santa Monica is way safer and nicer. If you aren't into alternative scenes, Venice isn't that great. It is cool to check out once in a while though!

Santa Monica to live, no question, provided that you can afford the increase in rent.

As far as a job, you could easily work in Venice and live in SM.
