is weird for May? I've been here three years but I keep hearing that the weather at any given time is odd/different/unusual. People comment on it. So it's hard for me to get a feel for what's normal for SoCal. I do know that we're hotter than LA. I'm in the San Gabriel Valley.

Yes, it is a big help. As soon as it cools off to the low-'70s, I open a few windows and put the fans in them to draw in the cooler air.

Yeah, not much relief out there! I'm sure glad that is cools off out here overnight. The same thing happens in the low deserts as in the East coast... it will be 105-115 during the day in the desert area and 80-90 overnight.

No, there are heatwaves in every month of the year in southern California.
For instance, the record high temp in Burbank for the month of May is 105 degrees (up through 1965; it may have been even more in the last 40 years).
