A few days ago in Seattle,Washington I took my girlfriend to see the movie licorice pizza.

The one thing I like about licorice pizza is it has scenes showing Encino in the 1970s.

Even though I was born in New York city I moved to Encino at age 3 in 1984.

Encino is where I grew up. I went to Birmingham high school and then went to California state university northridge.

Im July 2015 I moved to seattle.

The movie licorice pizza was filmed at the 76 union station at balboa and ventura.

Also the both the guy and girl who fall in love are Jewish just like me. Im also Jewish.

I wish more movies would take place in Encino,California where I grew up.

During the movie licorice pizza I was showing my girlfriend sights of Encino like rancho Street.

Havent seen the movie and have no desire to do so. LOTS of movies are filmed here, but not too many openly say that they are based here. Nothing real exciting about it. Looking at just the trailer, I see scenes in Reseda and Tarzana as well - looks like it was filmed at Portola high school in Tarzana.

It feels to me like they always shoot in the valley when they want to show normie life in L.A. They go to Compton/South Central for the 'hood', the Hollywood hills and canyons for 'rich people', Santa Monica/Venice for 'the beach', but the valley for 'normie middle-class life'.

Encino used to be known as the Beverly Hills of the Valley but has turned into a retirement community.

The problem with Encino is NIMBYism, no new housing, plus being part of LA's subpar school district. Woodland Hills seems to be more family oriented while Sherman Oaks and Studio City have more new development and benefit from proximity to Hollywood jobs.

I wonder why Woodland Hills is more family oriented than Encino?? Encino is all built up so there isn't room for more housing.
