Please give me your two cents... I'm looking for the best beach for mom, dad, and two toddlers. Doesn't have to have bonfire pits. I'm looking for something where you can park somewhat near the sand for free - if possible (my kids have lots of toys and things we have to cart out). Also, are there any beaches where there is grass and trees adjacent to the sand?? We always went to Huntington city beach as kids (which now charges about $7 for parking!), but I'd like to maybe branch out this summer when I take my own kids. Any ideas?

Mother's Beach in Long Beach is great for the toddlers.

Mother's Beach is okay, but it generally rates poorly in water quality compared to other local beaches.

try seal beach at the end of main street. there's a playground right on the sand, next to the pier. toddler heaven!

I don't know where you live but I take my kids to the beaches in Ventura. One in particular (I'm sorry I can't remember the name) has a Crowne Plaza on the beach and a restaurant called Eric's. The beach in that area has a playground, free parking next to the sand and it's cleaner than any L.A. beach I've ever been to.

I second Mother's Beach. I'll also throw in for "the bay" in Belmont Shore.

Thanks!! I looked up Mother's Beach and from the descriptions and pictures, it looks perfect!! I've been over that way many times, and I never knew that Mother's Beach was even there. The playground is definitely a plus. As someone pointed out earlier though, I'm not super crazy about the water quality of Long Beach, but I guess you can't have everything.

LB water quality is typically poor west of the pier. East of the pier in Belmont Shore down through the Peninsula, and in the bays (Mother's Beach, etc.) is usually pretty good. When it rains it is bad everywhere but that is true of any beach.
