I know Venice is part of the City of LA and is patrolled by the LAPD. But I've heard that the LAPD in Venice are very brutal to people there.

Someone told me that Venice is thinking of having its own police department, without the LAPD. Is that true?

They'd have to secede from Los Angeles. Ain't gonna happen. Who exactly would make that decision and fund it since, legally, there is no Venice?

Police arent "brutal" in Venice. Its not the LAPD's policy and the people who live and work in Venice would not tolerate police brutality. I think the only ones who say police are brutal are the people who look like criminals, behave like criminals, have a disrespect for law enforcement and probably all have criminal records themselves.

And don't forget their activists that support all of the above.

Tell us LAFan, the people who told you this, are they criminal types or have known affiliation with criminal types?

I lived and had a business in Venice and I don't look like a criminal (well I'm black so to some that automatically makes me a criminal) and I will say this:the police in Venice are horrible. They usually do nothing but when they do, they are very brutal about it.
