Here is a comment from aceplace from Dallas Tx forum on "Dallas versus Southern California" :

"If there were a metro better than Dallas, it would attract more people than Dallas. People flee the LA metro because they believe it is inferior to someplace else, according to the criteria that are important to them.

Is there a better metro than Dallas? Atlanta has a slightly higher increase in population, so it is slightly better. But Dallas is in 2nd place, Houston, 3rd.

The problem with these analyses, "Best Places", etc., is that they do not scientifically predict the actual movement of people, those who would be the final arbitrer of the value of a metro. They do not reflect the actual assets and liabilities of each metro, and are really just engaging in fantasy".[/quote]

Here is my quote:
Geez people... there is NO perfect stat apparently. Where people move.... where jobs and cost of living is affordable. Man, how clear is it? 90% aren't wealthy and are working class... you gotta feed your family right?

Wow, using the word inferior is pretty strong word....go post that on LA thread and see what you get!

There must be something about a place that cost 4x as much as TX, has fewer jobs, u make almost the same amount of $$ yet people are still coming here....

oh vey!

CAn y'all help post something there to live some limelite of LA/CA?

Los Angeles and California is used to getting bashings from other States or from the Ex-Californians who have claimed to have found their Utopia elsewhere

If others hate California and have negative things to say about it,or if they think their State is better, well that's their opinion, but it honestly doesn't affect my love for this Beautiful and Precious State

California is wonderful in my eyes and I am happy here,so I don't care what the rest of the Country thinks of it

Its jealousy.

They yearn for CA's spotlight.

most people think where they live is best, that's why they live there.

I've always said California is like a combination of all the other 49 states all rolled into one

We truly live in a State of Variety and Extremes.

I don't even have that california superiority complex, but when i hear people bashing california like that, trying to trump up their own town, i see jealousy.

You can be proud of where youre from without trying to bring down other towns.

Can't say much about dallas since I pretty much just rolled through and got stuck in their airport for like 9 hours.

you, too? missed my AA connection to miami, and had to fly standby. july 2, 1989, so i knew i wasn't getting out of there any time soon. walked outside the terminal to get a cab to a mall or something, and got blasted in the face with a wall o' heat. turned right around, bought a paperback, and spent the next eight hours in the airport bar. thank god i was 21!

Thats the thing. I knew I was stuck their for 9 hours before even checking back in, but that airport is pretty far from anything, so I found myself walking around endlessly with a dead battery on my ipod, and a dead cellphone.

And I was 20 at that time, so no bar for me. I was pretty much forced to stare into empty space for half a day.

The horror....
