Hi there! I live in the Marina right now and have an awesome commute down to Carson and back. I'm thinking of moving out to Studio City so that I can afford to buy something (my gf works in the SF Valley) so I can't move further south from the Marina and I looked around Studio City and found some nice affordable housing. The commute is only a few miles further, BUT, I know it's a much uglier commute. If I leave right around 6:45-7:00 every day, how will the drive be? Are there any shortcuts?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

You found "nice affordable housing" in Studio City? Where? You said you were moving to Studio City so that you can buy something but work in Carson? Why not consider someplace closer to Carson or someplace in the middle of where you and your gf live?

Thanks for the note. By affordable, I mean under $600K for a condo/townhouse. When I moved out here a year ago I would've never thought that was affordable, but LA definitely changes you, I guess. Yes, I work in Carson but most areas within 10 miles of Carson are trashy and it would be too far from my girlfriend's job in Woodland Hills. I'm also looking for some newer developments as I don't want to move into something more than 10 years old or so as I'm not a handyman!! Any idea on commute times from Studio City to Carson?

Got it. You're looking at 1 to 1.5 hrs each way depending on traffic. The wife was commuting for a while from Sherman Oaks (405 fwy) to Carson area where the 405 curves and meets the 110 fwy. Its one heck of a commute.
