I have read alot of posts claiming the SFV is going downhill. I believe certain parts are good and some are bad. If you believe its going downhill what is your reason?

Many parts of the San Fernando Valley need major remodeling due to homes being 50 to 100 years old. The only gang threat is part of the south Fernando Valley and the city of Pacoima. There are many upscale areas in the San Fernando Valley. "Valley Girl" lol

Pacoima's not a city - it's a section of Los Angeles.

San Fernando and Burbank are independent cities, though.

I heard there are several upscale areas of the SFV, often south of Ventura Boulevard.

I live in the Valley, there are tons of movie stars & celebrities living here. Except for a few bad areas, I think the Valley is nice and boring.

Thank you for the corrections. There are numerous incorporated cities or sections of Los Angeles, it becomes confusing.

Totally like bitchin'! lol..This film portrayed The Valley as a middle-class suburbia. Shots where taken showing how girls may safely ride bicycles alone in the streets. Upon a night out in Hollywood the girls are stunned! They witness "mohawk" hairdo's!, gangs!, Mexican's speaking Spanish!, and homeless people!. Their parents scold them on return, and then tell them NEVER to go over the hill ever again!

It was Nicolaus Cage's first film. 1983.

In some ways the valley is improving.

There is alot of new development that is inching north from the southern sections along ventura blvd. Many new condo and apartment bldgs are being constructed. The southern sections that boarder the nice areas will continue to improve. Land value and housing prices push people further north looking for the quality that once sat south of ventura.

Good News!! San Fernando Valley addresses shopping cart blight. There is a program in some sections of the valley to round up all those abandonded shopping carts. Too bad they dont address the source of the problem.
