That's why I already plan to only live in LA for 2-3 years. It's always been a dream of mine, and I just want to experience it. Fortunately, I am not looking for an extended period of stress and scraping by to live in a closet for $1k/month. =D

Whatever you feel is the politically correct term:

Hispanics, Latinos, Latin Americans, Mexicans, Mexican-Americans, Chicanos, etc.,

As of date, we do not say "White" , "Caucasian", or "Anglo". anymore.
It is "European-American". (According to my Sociology professor).

Perhaps I should use the terms "the people the steal fruit from my yard and cut my flowers without asking" and "the people that don't."

Yeah I'm bitter.

Like mosquitoes, rain, economic depression, dreary grey skies for months on end....
Wash DC native who fled that place 30 years ago for California; now in Arizona but is pondering returning to the Golden State. Admittedly am looking at Yucca Valley for a number of reasons but after Phx no desert scares me anymore.

I refer to myself as simply an American------------I get offended if someone tries to call me 'Euro' anything. And I am definitely White.

Note I was not referring to you saying that........just that professor's attitude

My Sociology professor is a Salvadorian coyote who is pro immigration. She helps the illegals get over here. She was one of the walkouts that protested in the streets. I am sure that had something to do with it.

Blacks still call themselves that, not African Americans
Whites still call themselves that, not European Americans.

refuting the above from my own POV: I can't think of any Americans with caucasian epidermis who refer to themselves as white. And all my friends refer to themselves as Americans, with assorted heritages of which they're proud.

However, if your professor is not also an immigration lawyer, this person should be turned in to the FBI for fraud and unlawful activities against the U.S. You should be having an introspective ethics crisis even writing about this!

I'm sorry if I alienate anyone but laws do not always equate justice. I have absolutely no ethical crisis. This thread is probably about to be shut down (sorry SandyCo) but I must say that blind conformity is not American. If you had a family to support and an imaginary line was the only thing keeping you from doing so?????????
