Thanks Agnt.Starling ... I actually abandoned the idea of moving to Norwalk for the time being ... I'm just waiting for a full-time job and may just move down south to OC as that would chop hours off my daily commute. Not sure yet what direction but this thread was created in 2008 when I was exploring different options.

That area is not generally considered good. It's probably not that bad, but it's a block from the one ways, which is the worst part of Norwalk

I would say it's OK.

Houses are kept up but there are a few apartments mixed in. I'm not a fan.

However I would assume it's relatively safe (not that many metal bars on windows and chain fences), but the area around is kinda, meh.

There is a Douglas Burger in close proximity which is nice.

I used to live in the neighborhoods across the street from Cerritos College from ages 0-9 years. I lived with a diverse group of young kids and neighbors were friendly however there was gang activity that my parents noticed. We eventually moved into Cerritos.

Does anybody know the area I'm talking about?

Busy, but shouldn't be "bad". Very working class. Head south a few blocks at you're at the one ways, which is what you want to avoid.

norwalk manor is not a good area. i was born and raised there and i am also a former bloomfield ave crips member. the manor was ok to live in until the mid 90s when gang members started to move in due fears of the northridge quake. the manor borders the juvenile hall which i spent years in myself. it also is next to the avalon apartments which are home to the avalon neighborhood crips. the area of the manor which you would like to buy in has samoan gang members which are often in quarrel with the notorious pinoy real from nearby silverado oaks area. DO NOT BUY NORWALK MANOR
