Hi,

I am flying out to Los Angeles on Tuesday (july 8th) to find a place to live. I will be attending Art Center College of Design in the fall, so i am looking for an apartment in the Pasadena/Eagle Rock area.

Anyway, to my question. My Dad is flying back to Austin before my mom and I do, and he has a 7pm flight out of LAX on a Sunday night. What time would you recommend leaving Pasadena on a Sunday, to make it to LAX for a 7pm flight? Is traffic bad on Sundays normally?

Thanks a bunch!

Also, i have already received tons of help on this forum about where to check out in Pasadena and the surrounding area, but if anyone has any other tips for the area, I am all ears!

thanks.

I like to play it safe. I'd leave Pasadena by 4:30.

Returning a rental car? Checking bags? If yes to both, then I'd leave Pasadena at 3 PM. I'd rather be 45 minutes early than one minute late. I've been in one hour lines just to check bags on Southwest; Terminal 1 is horrible for checking bags on Southwest. Traffic can be as little as 40 minutes or as bad as 90. Rental car lots are off site. Security lines can be 30 minutes. Sometimes Century Boulevard is jammed with cars.

I'll split the two times posted here with my knee jerk reaction of 4:00.

okay cool, thanks for the help everyone.

So at max, I am looking at an hour and a half in bad traffic? Whats the best route from Pasadena to LAX? I guess i can just google map it, thought i might as well ask though, in case it tells me a traffic heavy route.

thanks!

and if some other fool decides to tell airport police that he's a terrorist carrying a bomb in his backpack, and they have to shut down half the airport and halt all incoming traffic, there is no telling how long you'll be delayed.

Yeah, 4 pm would be a good time to leave. The 110 South to the 105 West would be the way I would go. 105 drops you off literally right at LAX. 105 usually has less traffic than the 10 or 405 as well.

ditto!!!! The 105 is smooth sailing on Sundays! Even if you're really early, Denny's is on the right hand side before... I believe it's Sepulveda? Good luck!!!!

I was stuck on 105 last weekend (we probably weren't moving 10 mph) taking my parents to the LAX airport from Pasadena. Overall, I hate the drive so to avoid the unexpected, I would leave at 4:30pm for a 7:00pm flight.
