Hey all. Now that summer is officially here, all of a sudden I'm itching EVERYWHERE. I'm scratching myself bloody. I feel as if something has bitten me...but I know it can't be mosquitoes because 1. they just aren't really around here--at least that I've seen and 2. when I used to get bitten by mosquitoes (on the east coast), they'd leave a little welt, and I don't have welts.

Anybody have any idea what tiny bugs might be around here that bite, and how to keep them off?

Do you have any pets? Could those bites be from fleas? I would say they're spider bites, but of course, spider bites leave a big welt. Hmm.

Morning, ((Sandy)). No, our kitty ran away last year.

Could it be I'm just super-dry or something?

It's just weird...

JerZ, do you actually see any spots that look like bites? You might also check your mattress for bed bugs. They've been on the rise for the past couple years.

This was my first thought, as bedbugs are a major problem here in New York City. However, I believe that they do leave little welts .....

LOL! No, Charles, that wasn't me.

I don't see any "spots"...just constant itching.

Maybe it's just dryness? I don't know...

Thanks so much, everybody.

ETA: Oh, and no, I don't think it's bedbugs. I had this problem last summer and we had a bug guy come and check out the whole house and everything. He sprayed preemptively (or maybe proactively would be a better word...oh, heck, neither is correct...it was more like "just in case") but he didn't see any fleas or bedbugs.

Have you recently moved here or have you experienced the local weather many years?

I used to have itchy skin problems and discovered it was the soap I was using. Commercial soap has the glycerin removed (and sold because it's more valuable than soap) and replaced with a bunch of synthetic crap. I recently switched to hand made soap (cold process method, superfatted) which has all natural ingredients and the glycerin left in and my dry skin problems vanished.

You can get soap similar to what I'm talking about at health food stores and Whole Foods Market. It cleared up my dry skin in about two weeks. Please note that you cannot use half and half to get the benefit. You have to completely quit commercial soaps and what they call "syndet" synthetic detergent bars. I didn't discover this for years until I completely switched.

Commercial soap causes dry skin problems in some people.
