LA if you have the money. If not, Miami.

You convince me to choose L.A. I hope to have a great time in this awesome city.

Glad you picked LA. There is so many places California to visit while there. From the Redwood Forest in the North to the beaches in OC. If you hire a car....a trip to Arizona and even Vegas is something to consider.

Baltimore has a lot of history and has great architecture. Not to mention it is in the Boston-Washington corridor, so you get to visit some other great cities. Granted, crime is high in a lot of spots, but you would not be visiting them anyway. As a current Australian resident, have you ever been to Baltimore?

Miami and LA, on the other hand, have little in the way of culture, save some burritos. They are not true American cities as they have been taken over by Latinos who mostly do not assimilate. So the OP, being from France, would not get a true American experience. You have to drive everywhere, the traffic is horrendous, and the drivers are quite rude. And Miami weather sucks. These are very shallow cities, so they may not appeal to the OP.

LA is a MUCH better place than Miami just for the very fact that outside of Miami there isn't much to do other than say Disney world within driving distance.

From LA you can go to Las Vegas, tour all the beaches, mountains, city life, etc all within drivable distance (something like 4-5 hour trips).

I don't get where all these people hang out where the Latinos are EVERYWHERE. There are TONS of ethnic pockets in LA where you wont' see a large latino population ..

Well, you might put yourself in some less than desireable hoods trying to find LA's latin culture, that being a direct result of a good chunk of our Latino population being working class in nature.

In Miami it's not only relegated to poorer neighborhoods, as Latinos there can be found in all walks of life there (same goes for spanish).
