Utility costs in the San Fernando Valley (Los Angeles, Burbank: apartment, condo)

I was looking around here and could not find an informative thread that states how much water, electricity, gas, etc cost.
I thought this could be good for people looking for move.

So, if you wouldn't mind, please list your general area ( like major cross streets and/or city, possibly provider with a breakdown on utilities)

I'm looking for a place in North Hills, but no one can seem to give me a straight answer on how much they pay.

Yes, I know it varies on what you use...but at least people can get an idea hopefully.

Most of the San Fernando Valley (that portion that is the City of Los Angeles) is Los Angeles DWP for Water and Power (including sewer). Gas come from the Gas Company.
Be aware electricity use is tiered; the cost per kilowatt-hour increases as you use more power. Summers are usually the highest electric bill.

I don't know how the city of Burbank and the City of San Fernando (and maybe others?) provide utilities, probably So Cal Edison, and/or through each city's power department. North Hills is Los Angeles (I think).

They have rates per kw and all that, but I would like dollar figures. Like I said I know it varies, and I know the Valley is split between Edison and DWp, just not sure how it divides up.

I get the "well I pay once every two months" from some, and some who tell me monthly. I figured $80 for electricity and $15 for gas.
This would be for a 1bd apartment about 600sqft.

My example, I've found a super NICE apt for 1300 that offers 2 covered parking, excellent features inside, stainless fridge, microwave, dual sink, oven with roman colums....etc and they pay water trash.

On the other hand I know there are crappy apts with 1 parking, none of what I mentioned for 1100-1200 with no utilities paid.

I used to pay my utility bill to the DWP and it was right around $100 every two months in a two bedroom without a/c. i was very close to the beach though, so not having a/c was not an issue. my guess is that you'll be paying atleast double that in the valley, probably even more in the summer. maybe with newer appliances you'll be using less energy, but your a/c will be on a lot during the summer, which is going to cost you.

And central air uses more than a wall-unit correct?
Fans could also help, with open windows...if a person doesn't get hot.

For my Woodland Hills place I pay around $150.00 every two months. It is usually double that in the summer months due to air conditioning, pool, landscaping, etc. Sometimes the bill will come in at over $400. As soon as that big "Grove/Americana" type mall is built along Topanga Im selling and moving back to either Sherman Oaks, Studio City or Encino.

The condo in S.O. was much much cheaper because of central air. Dont know what the tenants are paying.

Central air is cheaper?
DaBeez, what does $150/2months cover? Just electricity? Or was that water, gas etc?

That is just water and electricity.

Gas could come in at $200-$300 dollars or more because I like my pool heated.
