Except I want to move to Denver too and I don't want it turning into another California any sooner that it has to.

Honolulu is a hair cheaper than LA. You can still find condos there for under 300,000 and even less than 200,000. It's not uniformly expensive as it is in LA. The weather is around 70 - 80 degrees year round with relative humidity levels in the 50 - 70% range.

San Diego -- LA's chill partying 20-something half-sister who is really into fish tacos, alternative medicines, reggae and Mexican art.

The Carolinas are worth looking into though not exactly the same weather.

Metro Denver

(surprisingly despite what you might have heard) Salt Lake City, UT.. no I'm not an LDS...

As diversity is concerned, almost any neighborhood in close proximity to a major university will have that appeal. Hell, take a chance, go somewhere different, freeze your butt off ;-)

You've got the lowest housing prices far and wide in Long Beach. I don't know of anywhere on the ocean on the West Coast that's cheaper.

The condos under 300k are hotel rooms. Cost of living is WAY higher. Mine in Hawaii was 3x what it cost me to live in Pasadena with a lower standard of living there, which is more expensive than Long Beach.

May as well come to Palmdale/Lancaster (home of the space shuttle)
or near like Santa Clarita area at least, we'll welcome you and your brains and business to our town, after all it sounds like youd have lots of potential with such a business here.

You may find what you want in Nairobi, Santiago, Chile, S.E. Australia and the French, Italian and Spanish Riveria.
