California is about 15 billion in the hole.

America is a bazillion in the hole or will be shortly with these bailouts.

Without the bailout, I heard that we were nearing a situation similar to the Great Depression where the banks closed and there was no money to lend for homes, cars, business loans, etc. Rather scary stuff. It is such a shame that our entire country's financial resouces have been squandered away on a war that was not necessary in Iraq and on a policy that encouraged banks to make homeowners out of folks who could not afford homes. The American people will be paying for these mistakes for many years to come. I wonder who is going to be the first honest politician to speak up and tell us that higher taxes will be needed to pay for all of this.

That is a paraphrase from the Secretary of the US Treasury. You tell me, does he have accurate information?

We are facing hard times for several more years, according to the "experts" [they seem very serious & gloomy - I believe we are in very bad shape. America can not afford the Iraq war & the fortune they we are providing that nation. President Bush will leave the White House having put our nation in deep debt - thanks alot, moron

Ain't that the truth! We couldn't have universal health care but we can bail out the banks. Banks keep their profits, share their losses with the taxpayer.

The current administration has messed things up but good!

Our kids will be paying for this bailout.

And kiss America's scientific might goodbye. We can't afford it.

One more thing: the republicans put in place strict bankruptcy laws for individuals. But the skies the limit for corporations.

I think there will be plenty of interesting things happening in the next few weeks as the profiteers stash the loot and pardon themselves before the election. Taxpayers got their back.
