That's over a week away. Odds are, it'll never happen but I'll welcome cooler weather.

It'll be nice if it only rains that Sunday. If the first rainfall of the season occurs on a weekday, cars go slip sliding all over the place and the accidents increase dramatically!

OMG are you kidding? You guys haven't seen any rain for 5 months and the place is drying up and the roads, forest will burn up soon and your still complaining about the rain that "MIGHT" come for the first time in 5 months. It's not snow or heavy rain that cars could go slip, it's just regular shower... lol you must be kidding. We get rainfall at least twice a week here, heavy rainfall, flooding etc. and we're still not complaining.
BE HAPPY THAT RAIN IS ON THE WAY, NO MATTER WHAT DAY

Part of the problem with the first rainfall after many months is that the roadways get very slick due to built-up oils on the surface. It takes several days of rainfall to wash away the oil that causes cars to slide when people use their brakes.

I have read where others are forecasting rainfall around Oct 5th since a system in the north Pacific may move far enough south to tap into tropical moisture off Mexico. The combination of these dynamics could provide much-needed rainfall for California. Statistically, however, we normally get very little rainfall during October.

Well now I get it, but it's better to get rain than nothing. Wildfire season!
Don't you guys miss the rain after a half year without any rain?
How does the trees, plants etc. survive?
