I am from Texas so I'm used to gyms that charge less than $30/month and have big parking lots.

Any gyms like that around LA? or are they all small facilities that charge 60-80 a month.

I don't need ammenities like pool/ballcourt/sauna.

Just weights/cardio. Dirty is ok.

well, i'm not going to go around listing every gym I know of, but i can tell you that you should be able to get membership for around $30/month at LA Fitness, 24 Hour Fitness and Bally's. I had a membership with LA Fitness and was perfectly content, I just stopped using it, so I cancelled my membership.

does the price vary based on locations or is it standard across all the same franchises?

i understand there's probably the huge initiation fees (or a longer contract) if u want a lower monthly payment.

Unless we know where you are, the list will be hundreds of entries long.

You really need to list your location for us to be able to help you with your search.

Most places have free parking if thats what you mean. Again, it depends on your area though.

According to some of your other posts, youre a single Asian male who moved here from Austin and is staying with a buddy until you can find an electrical engineering job. What part of town does your buddy live and I'll be happy to give you a list of the gyms in the area and approximate costs. I can more than likely make a recommendation as to which gym is best as well.

Don't know where you're located, but in Orange County Fitness 19 is only $19 per mo. No pools or locker rooms and just a few locations, but the price is right. Check if they have any in LA county.

If you register for your local california community college you can take their cardio/strength class for 20$/semester (which is for 4 months). Parking will probably be 20-30$ for the same period.
