Hello, I am new here. LOVE this forum. I came because I have two preschoolers in Northridge, and we're always looking for stuff to do. What are your favorites? I love to take them to parks and the library and I am always willing to try new locations but I prefer to at least have someone tell me what they're like before I go there.

I'd love your suggestions.

Besides connecting with neighbors who have kids that age, the simple, convenient things will work out best. (avoiding driving; avoiding scheduling things which compete with naps)

The local park.
The local library often has storytime activities.
Walk around CSUN.
Moorpark College exotic animals (easy drive up the 118)
Park near Van Nuys airport and watch planes land and take off.

In Northridge, our kids like Creative Leap at Rinaldi and Tampa.

Also, Chuck E. Cheese's, MyGym, Gymboree, parks with swings, etc. are in multiple locations and fun for little ones.

Although it's not in Northridge, my kids love the Bob Baker Marionette puppet show in downtown LA.

My kids also like any kind of garden, like botanical gardens (Pasadena, La Canada) or even the Japanese gardens in Van Nuys. Griffith Park is also great, with the LA Zoo, Travel Town, steam train rides, pony rides, and carousel.

Of course they love the beach and luckily it's not too far away.

We live in Santa Clarita so Magic Mountain is in our backyard. My 4 year old loves it and my 1 year old doesn't care for it at all. Adventure City in Buena Park is fun too. All rides there are geared towards the younger kids.

We all love Medieval Times, from the baby on up to the grandparents. The aquarium in Long Beach is awesome.

The bubble gum playhouse in Sherman Oaks puts on little stage shows for young kids, mostly classic fairy tales, often with a slight twist. My 1 year old can't sit through the show, but my 4 year old likes it.

Sorry most of my ideas are not exactly in the SFV, but sometimes it's worth the drive to do something different.

Hope that helps...

Mari

We have found that the storytime at the Burbank libraries are outstanding.

Also check out the Children's museum in Pasadena and the Noah's ark exhibit at the Skirball.
