I'm moving back to LA in January and of all the times I have been out there I have never felt a quake. When a tremor like that hits does it crack the foundations on the homes? Do you guys have to get inspections from time to time to see if there's any damage etc? Sorry, I am totally ignorant in the earthquake dept, now TORNADO's??? I know ALL about them (unfortunatly)!
An earthquake that small shouldn't cause any damage. The 5.4 quake we had last summer did put more cracks in the walls but it is rare for significant damage to occur unless the earthquake is above 7 on the Richter scale.

DM Fleet, he knows a lot about earthquakes.

We've had 2 in the last couple of years that have caused maintenance work like puttying and painting nail holes and cracks where 2 joists meet but nothing big. I had an apt in PB back in the 80s that shifted an entire wall cause the mgr had a habit of hiring illegals to do his work. That was scary but it didn't crash on me. The quake was big enough to bring the water out of the pool

Illegals I know the feeling.

Thanks for the quake info, I just found out from a co-worker that our state (Indiana) sits on one of the biggest fault lines in the US, but it's not active. I know that was off topic, but I was surprised.

Yep. 1933. Magnitude 6.3. The epicenter was offshore.
