Thanks,

Trablus, it takes 30 minutes to get to the beach but it's only about 10 miles away. That's why the weather in TO is so pleasant. I went on a hike to the beach from Newbury Park. It was an 8 mile walk to the ocean!

Not bad! Sycamore Canyon? How much time did the round-trip hike take? I've hiked to the canyon center from Newbury Park and from the coast, but never the whole length of the canyon from one end to the other.

That's a long way to walk. I think you cross the creek like nine times.

When I worked at Point Mugu, we'd meet in the morning where the canyon meets the beach, park a car, put two mountain bikes in the other car, go to work then at lunch drive to the top of the canyon and ride the bikes down - to the parked car. Then we'd head back to work, shower and after work drive back up to get the car we left at the top at lunch.

Fun lunchtime. All down hill on mountain bikes.

cre8, it was a hike organized by the recreation dept. They call it "Sycamore to the sea". You hiked to the ocean, they had lunch all set up on the beach and then bused you back to TO. They do it every year. It took between 2hours and 40 minutes and 3 hours to get to the beach. Once was enough for me.
