Hi all,

Just looking for some advice on where to rent
here are the details:
1. I have 2 young kids in school
2. I want a place that is about 2000sq/ft, 3 bedrooms.
3. It must be safe
4. It must have good schools
5. It must be within 45min drive to work
6. it must be less than $3,000/month

I guess my question is , is this even possible?
I would prefer that the house has a pool or access to a pool.

Ok that a lot of specifics but really i am just looking for neighbourhoods not actual houses and I guess some opinions on if I am out of my mind.

Thanks

The ideal home is within 5-10 minutes of your Work....Westwood and the adjacent neighborhoods. Further out to the south Culver City and that area along pico blvd.

for verification of $$, I checked for listings and found some examples of houses with backyards listed below.. They may not be quite as large as the
2k sq ft you mentioned.

There is a large public pool & Park at Wilshire & Sepulveda behind the Federal Bldg. They have various classes etc for all kinds of activities. There is also a public pool on overland, near culver blvd.

You would be close to home and close to your kids, easy commute, great area, and good schools, and conveniences within walking distance.

Charming and Bright Duplex (House Like) (http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/apa/885291674.html - broken link)
Very charming and romantic two-story English cottage!! (http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/apa/882924170.html - broken link)
PRIME WLA 2 BDRM, 1BA HOUSE FOR RENT (http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/apa/882340958.html - broken link)

You may also want to consider a 3bdrm condo. which would give you more sq ft.

What do you like to do? Hobbies or activities outside of work and school. How old are your children? Would you consider private schools? Just a bit more information as the communities around LA can have vastly different attributes and vibes.

to get 2000sf for $3000, you'll probably have to look to the valley. detached houses in culver city and el segundo can be found for under $3000, but there aren't many that are going to be 2000sf. these neighborhoods are fairly old as far as LA is concerned, so most of the houses are 2 or 3 bedroom bungalows. westwood and brentwood will have larger homes, but you're going to pay much more than $3000/month. the valley will have lots of options for you, its just going to be a bit of a commute.
