We're complete USC newbies and were invited to the game tonight. We'd like to avoid parking and take the red line from NoHo to 7th Street / Metro Center. We're willing to go all the way to Union Station for a tram / shuttle, but they don't appear to run on weekends.

Besides a taxi, does anyone have any advice on the best way to take mass transit into campus? We're meeting up with our friends at Tommy Trojan and coming from Burbank.

Much appreciated!

From 7th and Metro you can take the F Dash bus on Flower that will drop you off at various stops around USC (the Dash ends early on Saturday though so check the LADOT website for the schedule).

If I were you I would either get out at Wilshire/Vermont and take the 204/754 down Vermont, or get out at Pershing Square and take the 81 down Hill.

These are the options that I can think of.

Thanks so much! We did end up doing the 81 from/to to Pershing Square. It worked beautifully. The only issue was the ride from MLK/Figueroa after the game - it took an hour to go about 4 miles.

It took just over an hour to get to campus from Burbank, and almost two hours to get home (mainly due to the terrible traffic near exposition park) - all on Metro. I think that's a bit better than dealing with the parking structure(s), and a heck of a lot cheaper.

Same goes for Hollywood Bowl, or LA Live!/Staples, or City Walk. I have yet to drive to any of these venues and, as far as the DASH busses are concerned, they have always worked out great for me when downtown.

congrats!

a lil tip: take the bus north of where the traffic is. its better to walk north of the coliseum and wait for a bus there, than to catch a bus in the middle of traffic and get stuck in it. sometimes they send "shuttle" buses that dont travel the whole route. in the case of the 81/fig bus it would come from HLP south thru DT and stop just short of the USC area then it would turn around back to HLP. these run concurrently with the full route 81's.

anyhow congrats again on takin public trans. its a lot better, and you can get hammered and not worry about a DUI!

Perhaps, but the bus we were on was jammed pasing expo park. It turned away quite a few folks who had to wait 30+ minutes for the next one. So I think I'd rather sit in traffic than sit watching traffic!!
