Walter Moore rocks!
But the *******s at the L.A. Times hate him because he is smart and talks sense. He doesn't stand a chance. I will vote for him.

How silly. Walter Moore has run for mayor before. In 2005 he ran on his own money w/out GOP support. Now Moore has better fianances & l look forward to any debates. But Caruso was the only big-name wealthy Republican who has the resources to campaign. Caruso waited until the election was over & by studying the results decided not to run for mayor. It is nearly a lost cause in Los Angeles & only big $ and big ideas will allow a Republican to win. Also low opinion of Villaraigosa or a scandal could help a Republican but Antonio's affair & pending divorce aren't even issues to the average voters.

Fact: The L.A. Times does not mention Walter Moore.
Fact: They never will unless it is his obituary.
Fact: The republican party basically ignores him because he is a threat to them also.

That's your opinion but I would google that before coming to your conclusions. The Times have info on Moore. He is like Bob Barr, a reformed Republican that got next to nothing votes across the nation. The GOP do not have the resources or interest in Walter Moore to finance an election in super-blue Los Angeles. They know it will be a total waste of money. Plus, any candidate who claims to be against rent control would lose by a landslide. Moore sounds more Libertarian & that's cool but the GOP do not support Libertarians. It's a no win situation.

If the Times would print Moore's criticisms of the city govt more people would get on board, but they do not, which is my criticism of the Times. He has a lot to say that is neither rep or dem or libertarian, just facts. The rep party has given up on L.A. a long time ago and basically ignores us to their detriment.

Be serious, Moore came in 6th in the 2005 Mayoral election [behind the Socialist party]. Should the LA Times be giving front-page coverage to all the candidates who don't have a chance to win? The Republican party hasn't "ignored" Los Angeles voters. The voters have ignored the GOP. There's basically no interest in Republican ideas or leadership in California.

It appears that the mayor will be running against relatively unknown people, so I guess the LA times should just declare him the winner.
The LA times is also an unopposed paper, the only paper in the city. No competition is a bad thing.

I agree with you about competition but the Valley News is considered conservative & Orange Co Register. But both are small operations compared to the LA Times. It's called the selling of ideas. Just like food. If a restaurant doesn't cook food that people will buy than it is time to change the menu.

I am glad, however that Prop 11 looks like it will win. Having a panel decide voter districts will be a big improvement over the ridiculous gerrymandered districts meant to keep safe seats for both parties.
