It's a known that USC and UCLA are consistently ranked in the top ten in the country. Pepperdine has a great Business school but the law school is third tier. Loyola is in the top tier. Southwestern is second or third tier but it has a good reputstion and offers more flexibility to earn your degree. La Verne is also a good school to check into. It's locate in Ontario.

The best law schools in the LA area are UCLA and USC. Other law schools are Loyola, Pepperdine, Southwestern. I would rank Loyola after that followed followed by Pepperdine and Southwestern.

In Orange County, the law schools are Whittier, Chapman, Western State and starting next year (UC Irvine). In OC, I would rank Chapman first (among existing law schools in OC).

In San Bernardino County (in Ontario, CA) there is University of La Verne College of Law.

These are the ABA accreditated law schools in the Greater Los Angeles area. But, again UCLA and USC are the top ranked law schools in this area.

US News and World Report ranks Pepperdine 59th in the country and Loyola 63rd. UCLA was 16th and and USC was 18th. Southwestern wasn't ranked, just placed in tier 4.

Of course, the estimated $60K per year could dissuade some. But, hey, what a view and fires too.

Oh you mean that the cost of the school is part of the question? Well how about one of the fine city schools. I know in Ventura there is Ventura Law School. Not sure what the prospects are for employment after graduating though.

I dont understand where people are getting their info from. LaVerne is not an ABA accredited school. Southwestern is not above Loyola either!

The rankings go like this...
UCLA (tier 1)
USC (tier 1)
Loyola (tier 2)
Pepperdine (tier 2)
Southwestern (tier 3)

UCLA has consistently ranked higher than USC. But only by a spot or two in the mid to high teens. I would recommend UCLA for the cost, and USC for the alumni support.
Pepperdine and Loyola seem to trade spots periodically. Loyola was consistently above Pepperdine. Loyola has a strong alumni backing as well though.
Southwestern is tier 3, maybe dropped to tier 4 recently.
The rest... Im not familiar with. They are likely non-ABA accredited schools which you want to stay away from.
Please ask me if you have any questions, its always better to get advice from someone in the mix of things. Im currently a 2L at USD Law.

Well, as for me, I was just pulling the rankings out of my head. We know UCLA and USC are the top law schools in Southern California. But, better check the US News and World Report Rankings.

As for University of La Verne College of Law, it is ABA approved. It is provisionally approved by the ABA. Graduates can sit for the bar exam in all 50 states. The difference is that the ABA site committee evaluates the school every year versus every 7 years, I believe for fully accreditated law schools. But, the law school must eventually apply and be approved for full approval. US News and World Report does not include in their rankings schools that are provisionally accreditated by the ABA.
