Hi all. I posted a while ago asking for recommendations on where to live that was within a reasonable commuting distance of downtown. I narrowed it down to Los Feliz. Now it seems that i will also have to fly to Reno every other week for work. I have 2 questions:

1. If I work Mon/Tue downtown and then have to fly out Tue night from LAX to Reno to work Wed/Thurs, is it better to drive or are there public/cheap private transportation options close to Los Feliz?

2. Would anyone here recommend me moving to another neighborhood which would give be a reasonable commute(< 30 min) to both LAX and Downtown?

Thanks

The first thing that jumped out at me is, Is there any way you can fly from Burbank? (I checked, on Southwest there are no nonstops but several direct flights from BUR to RNO.)

From Los Feliz the drive doesn't look bad and BUR is ten times better the experience than LAX. Nothing is worse than LAX.

Fly out of Burbank!

Or call one of the many transpo/to LAX shuttles to pick you up.

It looks like flying out of burbank and back into LAX is possible based on my schedule, but what am i looking at for commute times if i leave downtown LA to either LAX or Burbank @ 5pm?

Depends on where in downtown... depends on day of the week... depends on so many things. Look at maps.google.com, and check commute times. You can also play with the options to see what happens if you change the day and time.

Another thing to consider is using metro rail. You can leave Union Station from downtown LA, and take the trains straight to LAX.

The metrolink goes to BUR airport, maybe a 200 yard walk. I've used it from Moorpark, very nice.
