Hello everyone. I am looking into some jobs in a company about two blocks from the Pico/LA Convention Center stop on the Metro Blue Line. I was wondering if that is a safe area, especially if I have to work late and want to use the Blue Line to commute from Long Beach. I have only ridden the Blue Line once and it was in the middle of the day. It didn't seem too bad, but I couldn't tell what it was like during rush hour, or after dark. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

with the la live development opening up next to the staples center, there will be much more activity in the area, which will probably only make it safer. i've never had an issue on the blue line, even later at night. i've used it multiple times after hockey games at the staples center and never had a problem.

I don't like being in that area during the day let alone at night. I don't think it's a safe area and the people going to and from the Staples Center try not to see anything. And the riders of the Blue Line will definitely "see no evil, hear no evil". You'll be lucky if someone even dials 911 when whatever happens to you is over.

Been many times, often with kids, never had a problem even at 11pm.

Your mileage may vary.

I've never had any problems with that area. If it makes you feel any better, a lot of people heading to Staples/Convention Center park their cars even farther east of the Pico Blue Line station and walk from there. You'll be fine there. I've been there countless times.

you will be fine. its safe. a bit lonely, but thats changing. its ok. not much to fear. just dont head to far south of pico. once you hit washington its another beast all together. you could feel the difference. but the blue line is fine. it was exceptionally stuffy today, and my train was having problems once it left the pico station. thats the worst of it. technical difficulties.

and people do call 911. i did so yesterday when i seen someone laid out in the gutter. i couldnt stop since i was on the bus, but i def. called. people still care about eachother here.

good luck.
