Puffle. "Fit in?" I find that curious. I had the impression that there are so many people doing so many things here that there isn't an "in" in which to fit.

I think it is because my whole family is from the East Coast which is a completely different mentality and a bit more conservative that I really never felt like a California girl. In high school, that usually related to surfing and very outdoorsy which I am not. I think that is why I felt right when we moved to Boston a few years back and will again. Just a personal feeling.

I am a native Angeleno. Both my maternal and paternal sides have lived in L.A. since the 1930s -- when Compton used to be farmland and smog was cigar thick.

I am also a native Californian, born here, but raised in Pennsylvania and I have also lived in a few other states as well. I came back here to reunite with relatives. I stayed at first by choice, but later, as rents continued to increase and other expenses continued to increase as well, it has felt more like a financial prison than a choice. The expenses of day-to-day living increase so fast here that it is now more difficult for me to raise the money to move to a less expensive and less crowded area of the country, which is my dream.

Save your butt off, get help from relatives, work over-time, get an extra job, just do what you can to live where you want. Life is too short to be unhappy in your surroundings. Where would you like to live?

What is it that you like about N. Dakota? I don't know much except that it gets very cold in the winter but I bet the people there are very nice.

I like the fresh air, the natural beauty of many of the towns, the availability of affordable housing for almost any budget, the abundance of wildlife in its natural habitat, and many of the people I have corresponded with from there have been extremely kind and helpful. Yes, it can be extremely cold there in some locations [-45. F. temperatures], but that is why heaters were developed.
