I am 65 and have lived in my apartment building for almost 19 years and have an extremely low rent. The owner died and her son is selling the building. What are my rights as I am only on Social Security? I live in Burbank California. Also the lady that owns the building across the way has done the maintenance for years but she has always giving me a hard time and screams at me, now she took away my parking space this morning. I am a great tenent that has done improvements to the apartment, never make noise, never caused problems. I only ask for help when something goes wrong with maintenance and she threw that at my face, though she was being paid to do the handy work.

I am afraid to be out in the street.

Do you necessarily have to leave? Even if he sells the building, couldn't the apartment building continue operating as it has been?

If you were my mom or dad, I'd tell you to contact: Bob Kramer at the City of Burbank @ Call (818) 238-5795 (office) or (818) 953-0963 (pager) or send an e-mail to BKramer@ci.burbank.ca.us . Maybe he can offer some assistance to you (or let you know who else in the City to contact).
