Went on an excursion yesterday to the Antelope Valley, checking out some natural areas on the way there and back. Vasquez Rocks (in between Santa Clarita and Acton) is incredible, especially with the flowers blooming now. Some people might wonder why I'm posting pictures of all those far flung exurbs to the LA forum. It's because this IS part of LA county and as stupid as it is, tens of thousands of people live in the Antelope Valley and commute to LA daily, so as crazy as it seems this is still part of the LA metropolitan area. A lot of people have asked what Palmdale is like, so this shows what (mainly the western part) of that city looks like. You can buy a brand new, beautiful home there for what is dirt cheap by LA standards. Also I just had to include shots of the famous McD's in Acton!

Thank you, vegaspilgrim, for posting these photos. It's amazing how much that area has grown in the past ten years! I've never been to Vasquez Rocks, but your pictures are beautiful.
